Concert performance of P.I. Tchaikovsky's opera "Mazepa".

Dear friends!

On November 10 and 12, 2021, on the stage of the Music Festival Hall, Baden-Baden, and on November 14, 2021, on the stage of the Berlin Philharmonic, a concert performance of P. Tchaikovsky's opera "Mazepa" took place, in which Dmitry Ulyanov performed the part of Kochubei for the first time in his career. The orchestra was conducted by Kirill Petrenko, and Dmitry's partners on stage were such remarkable artists as Olga Peretyatko, Vladislav Sulimsky, Oksana Volkova, Dmitry Golovnin, Anton Rositsky, Dmitry Ivashchenko and Alexander Kravets.

On November 14, 2021, it was also possible to watch a live broadcast of the concert from the Berlin Philharmonic, which is now available with a paid subscription at link.

"We know the bass Dmitry Ulyanov well, whose stage and vocal ease we noted in the Golden Cockerel in Aix and Lyon, as well as in Kutuzov in War and Peace in Geneva. And here is Kochubey, with a vocal range that, in my opinion, makes him one of the benchmark Russian basses of the coming years. Amazing phrasing, always genuine and intelligent expression, and, above all, an impressive range from the lower to the higher frequencies, this is a real sonorous bass, deep, intense, with full-sounding and always controlled high frequencies, this is an artist of incredible quality and a simply amazing level of performance."
