Announcement of the new season 2019 - 2020

We present to your attention the announcement of the new season of Dmitry Ulyanov!

Dmitry will open the 2019 - 2020 season by performing two different roles on two different stages, in two different productions of the same opera by G. Verdi “Don Carlos”: in Vienna State Opera viewers will be able to see him in the role of the Grand Inquisitor on September 6, 9 and 12, 2019 (director - Daniele Abbado, conductor - Jonathan Darlindton), and he will perform the role of King Philip II on the stage of the Madrid Teatro Real September 29 and October 04, 2019 (conductors - Nicola Luisotti, Diego Garcia Rodriguez, director - David McVicar)

Next, Dmitry will go to Paris to begin rehearsals for the role of Prince Galitsky in a new production of A. Borodin’s opera “Prince Igor” on stage Operas of the Bastille. The performances will take place from the end of November to the end of December 2019. The orchestra will be conducted by Philippe Jordan, directed by Barry Koski.

In February, Dmitry will also delight the Moscow public: at the beginning of 2020, the Bolshoi Theater is expected to premiere N. Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “Sadko” directed by D. Chernyakov, in which Dmitry Ulyanov will perform the role of the Varangian guest. The performances will take place from February 14 to 19. Dmitry will also be involved in repertoire performances in his theater; the exact dates of the performances will be known a little later.

In March 2020, Dmitry will make his first appearance on stage Bavarian State Opera in one of the most complex bass parts of Boris Godunov in the opera of the same name by M.P. Mussorgsky. The performances will take place on March 20, 23 and 27. Stage director - Calixto Bieito, conductor - Mikhail Yurovsky.

Immediately after Munich, Dmitry will go to Canada. There, from the end of March, he will begin rehearsals for the role of Daland in a new production of Wagner's opera The Flying Dutchman (conductor - Johannes Debus, director - Christopher Alden). On the stage Canadian Opera Toronto Dmitry will also sing for the first time in his career. Performances will take place on May 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 14 and 16, 2020.

And on May 17, rehearsals will begin for Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “The Golden Cockerel” at the opera festival in Aix-en-Provence, France. In this new production, Dmitry will play the role of King Dodon. Performance dates will be announced later.
