On April 6, the long-awaited premiere of D. Shostakovich’s opera “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk” took place on the stage of the Parisian Opera Bastille theater, directed by the Polish director Krzysztof Warlikowski. The premiere of the play was a resounding success! Dmitry won an enthusiastic reception from the sophisticated French public, brilliantly performing one of the most difficult bass parts by Boris Timofeevich Izmailov.
The orchestra was conducted by Ingo Metzmacher. In addition to Dmitry, the main roles were played by Aushrine Stundite (Katerina Izmailova), Pavel Chernokh (Sergei), John Dashak (Zinovy Izmailov) and Sofia Petrovich (Aksinya).
Everyone still has a chance to see the performance on the stage of the Opera Bastille April 9, 13, 16, 19, 22 and 25. Also on April 16 at 20.30 you will be able to watch a live broadcast of the opera as part of the project Opera HD.
